Failure to Provide Access for Inspection
If you do not provide access to National Fuel, you will receive the following:
Regarding Performance of Leakage Surveys and Atmospheric Corrosion Inspection
National Fuel is required by New York state law to perform periodic leakage survey and atmospheric corrosion inspections of the gas meter and its associated piping that are located inside your home or business. You have previously been sent multiple letters for this purpose and were recently charged a $100 fine on your gas bill for failing to provide access to allow National Fuel to perform the required inspection at a reasonable time. While you have paid the non-access fine, access is still required, and National Fuel has consulted with the NYS Department of Public Service—Office of Consumer Services about your situation. This notice is being issued following such discussions.
This notice is to inform you that your gas service will be shut off, unless access is provided, at a time legally authorized on or after <TXDATE> because you have not allowed National Fuel access to perform a required safety inspection.
What You Should Do to Keep Your Gas on:
In order to avoid the shutoff, please call National Fuel at 716-827-5560 or visit us at any of our other offices to schedule the inspection. If you do not contact us to schedule an appointment within 15 days of this notice, your gas service will be shut off.
What Would Happen if We Shut off Your Gas:
If service is shut off pursuant to this notice, service may not be reconnected until the required inspection is completed.
If you do not control access to the meter, please notify customer service and provide us with the contact information of the person who controls access.
A copy of this notice is being provided to the NYS Department of Public Service—Office of Consumer Services.
